First SumoKids Festival

There was art. There was dancing and, of course, there was sumo wrestling!

On June 6, 2005, the students of our pilot program at Highgate Heights Elementary School held the first ever SumoKids festival.

After months of training sessions and practice, the original SumoKids finally got to show off their skills to an excited audience of teachers, parents and fellow students.

From the very beginning, our students exceeded all of our expectations and the festival was no exception. They put on a show that truly embodied the fun, honorable community-minded spirit of SumoKids.

We would like to congratulate the Highgate Heights students and teachers on a job well done and thank them for an amazing year.
